More than 120 pharmacists attend Refresher Course in Vallabh Vidyanagar

Two Days “Pharmacist Refresher Course” sponsored by GSPC, Ahmedabad, was organized

by Charutar Vidya Mandal’s Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, New Vallabh

Vidyanagar. This Refresher Course was organized by Dr. Usmangani K. Chhalotiya,

Course Coordinator and Mrs. Jinal Tandel Course Co-Coordinator as Convener under the

guidance of Dr. Harsha V Patel, Course Director & Principal of host institute.

On 14th September 2019, the inaugural function of the seminar began as per Indian tradition

and culture with the lighting of the lamp by the GSPC representative and Chief Guest, Ms.

Dipali Savaliya and President of the function Dr. Bhaveshbhai Patel, Vice chancellor, CVM

University. Program started with a simultaneous recitation of some shlokas in praise of

Almighty by Jyotika Patel and Dhwani Shah. At the outset of inaugural function, Dr. H. V

Patel introduced and welcomed the dignitaries on the dais and off the dais. Dr. H. V. Patel

welcomed Dr. Bhaveshbhai Patel, Vice chancellor, CVM University with a holy basil plant

while Dr. Usmangani K. Chhalotiya welcomed Ms. Dipali Savaliya with the Holy basil

Tulsi plant.

Dr. Usmangani K. Chhalotiya, Associate Professor, Indukaka Ipcowala College of

Pharmacy, New Vallabh Vidyanagar welcomed invited Guest, Delegates and Resource

persons, and briefly introduced about the theme of the two days Refresher Course.

In the inaugural address, Ms. Dipali Savaliya congratulated all participants for attending the

event. She also informed about the importance and benefits of Refresher Course in

pharmaceutical field. She congratulated the organizers of the hosting institute for providing such a platform and opportunity & exploring new level of thinking and related to theme of the Refresher Course. Dr. Bhaveshbhai Patel, Vice chancellor, CVM University encouraged delegates and congratulated all the participants for attending the event. The inaugural function concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Jinal Tandel, Asst. professor, Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, New Vallabh Vidyanagar.

The First session comprised of a series of plenary lectures delivered by Eminent Speakers on various burning issues which are facing by registered pharmacist during dispensing the medicines in day to day life. The First session began with a highly informative lecture on the topic “Neutraceutical Products used in the Treatment of Disease” by Mrs. Mariyan R. Patel Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy, Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, New Vallabh Vidyanagar. She explained how food can be useful as Neutraceutical over the Pharmaceutical medicines. The second plenary lecture was on “Introduction to GSPC & Chronopharmacology” by Ms. Dipali Savaliya Executive Officer, Gujarat State Pharmacy Council, Ahmedabad. She congratulated the organizers of the hosting institute for providing such a platform and opportunity & exploring new level of thinking and related to topic of the refresher course. After delicious lunch, post Lunch two sessions were taken by two academic persons Dr. (Mrs) Mrunali R. Patel Associate Professor Department of Pharmaceutics Ramanbhai Patel College of Pharmacy, Changa and She has delivered her talk on “Rational Use of Drugs” and second session was taken by Prof. (Dr.) Vimal Kumar Professor & Principal, Department of Pharmacognosy ITM School of Pharmacy, Vadodara and his topic was “Food – Herbs and Drug Interactions” with high tea first Day was ended by warm goodbye to all delegates.

On second day 15th September, 2019 day started with warm morning wishes. First plenary technical session was taken by Prof. (Dr.) Nehal J. Shah Professor & Principal Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy and Research Center, Dharmaj. he covered the topic “Prescription Errors ”. Second session

was covered by Dr. Saikat Pande, Department of Pharmaceutics, A.R. & G. H. Patel Institute of Pharmacy, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand. He has taken “Disease Specific Novel Drug Delivery system”. Next session was covered by Dr. Sanjay P. Chauhan, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dharamsinh Desai University, Nadiad and his topic was “Self Medications ” He discussed merits and demerits of self medication.

Feedback session and examination were conducted by Mr. Aliasgar Kundavala, Mrs. Heta M. Kacchiya, Mrs. Harsha Jani and Ms. Mary Patel. Participants appreciated two days course in their feedback. Day was ended up with the Valedictory function, Chief guest Dr. Montukumar Patel President Gujarat State Pharmacy Council, Ahmedabad congratulated all the delegates for attending two days course and informed them regarding GSPC updated work. Finally two days Pharmacist Refresher course was concluded with a vote of thanks given by Mrs. Jinal Tandel followed by National Anthem.

A certificate of participation was also awarded to all delegates to encourage them. More than 120 participants had attended this two days Refresher course. Participants appreciated seminar in their feedback
