Safe and effective medicines for all

Objective: The world pharmacist’s day is celebrated to commemorate and honor the contribution of pharmacists to the world. International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) is a global federation decided to celebrate 25th September as Annual World pharmacists Day, in the FIP Congress in Istanbul in 2009.

The day is celebrated to organize activities that promote and advocate the importance of pharmacists to aware people in the safe and effective use of medicines, getting rid of the counterfeit medicines in every corner of the world. As a part of our responsibly, inclining with the motto, and with an intention to encourage activities which promotes and advocates the role of the pharmacist in improving health, thereby raising the pharmacy profession, Faculty of pharmacy, Dharmsinh Desai University had organize various events for celebration of world pharmacist’s day. Events like T-shirt painting competition, Pharma-diary, Pharma-booth and Pharma-model. Other activity like health check up camp was also organize.
Inauguration: The events was started by welcoming chief guest Mr. Montu Patel (President, Gujarat State Pharmacy Council, Ahmedabad) by Dr. Mehul N. Patel, Guest of honour Mr. Naimmudin saiyad (Assistant commission of FDCA) by Mr. Jagat Upadhyay and Mr. Parimal Patel (Drug Inspector of Kheda district) by Dr. Sanjay Chauhan. Registrar of Dharmsinh Desai University, Prof. R. K. Jain and Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. B. N. Suhagia were also present at the event. Prof. R. K. Jain and Dr. B. N. Suhagia had delivered their thought for celebration of world pharmacist day and encourage the students for up-liftment of pharmacy profession.
Plenary session: Mr. Naimmudin Saiyad (Assistant commission of FDCA) has delivered lecture on “Pharmacist: A healthcare profession”. The session taken by Mr. Naimmudin Saiyad was informative. After completion of session, he was felicitated with memento and certificate by Dr. Mayuree Patel.

Events for celebration of World Pharmacist Day:
1) Pharma-diary: Students had participated in group of five. Total 7 groups from different semester had participated in this event. For events, students had conducted counseling of patient regarding drug interaction, drug medication technique and checked patient compliance by visiting in old-age home, orphanage, rural areas and hospital. They make videos and capture photo and reported in the form of diary and presented to the judges.
2) Pharma-booth: Students had participated in groups. In this, booth was allotted on disease like obesity, diabetes and hypertension which providing all information related to diseases. They had also makes charts and banners for counseling the patient. Judges evaluated them according their counseling technique, vocabulary and subjected related knowledge.
3) T-shirt painting competition: Student participated in pairs. Total 31 participants had registered their name for this event. Participant has to make logo or symbol theme “safe and effective medicine for all”. They had painted T-shirt using fabric paint and represented the theme as a logo.
4) Pharma-model: Post-graduate students represented a model on layout of pharmaceutical industry. They made 2 floor model which represents layout of manufacturing pharmaceutical company. They all are appreciated by certificate by Mr. Jagat Upadhyay.
Health check-up camp: On the occasion of World Pharmacist day, Faculty of Pharmacy had organized health check up camp. Various parameters like random blood sugar, Hemoglobin, blood pressure, heart rate and BMI were measured. Total 176 candidate had participated in the health check up camp.
Valedictory: At the end of day, winners was announced and appreciated with certificate by Dean, Dr. B. N. Suhagia. Mr. Arun Soni had concluded the event.
